Total in-class time: 18 hours

In 6 sessions you will learn how to sculpt 3D shapes out of wax and transform them into silver jewellery or miniature sculptures using the ancient technique of “Lost Wax Casting”. Your first project will be a simple 3D ring then the possibilities are endless. You can also experiment with burnout casting and swipe a few design ideas from mother nature.

10 Grams of silver included. Students are welcome to bring in their old silver or yellow gold to melt down into jewellery! This class only.

* Beads, Cabochons and semiprecious stones will be available to purchase in addition to what is already included in the workshop description but students are encouraged to bring their own materials to work with as individual tastes may vary (BYOBeads).

Lost Wax Casting Workshop

Cost: $180.00 - plus the cost of silver (average about $20.00)

**Note**  You can bring your own scrap sterling silver for up to half of the weight of your ring! (You do need half casting grain which is available for purchase in our retail shop or you may bring your own.)

Prerequisites: Beginning Jewelry Making 3 Day Intensive OR Beginning Jewelry Making 6 Week OR EQUIVALENT

All materials are included, except for silver. No silver is provided.

This is a 2 day workshop. You will learn the basics of vacuum casting and be introduced to very simple wax carving.  You will be casting a sterling silver ring from a pre-made wax pattern. The first day you will work on your ring and it will be fired overnight so that on your second day you can finish it.
